Abstract

Disaster medicine necessitates a multidisciplinary approach to mitigate the impact of emergencies on public health. Radiology emerges as a crucial player in disaster management, offering diagnostic and prognostic insights that guide preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. This review explores radiology's multifaceted role across the disaster continuum. From equipping healthcare systems with imaging resources for early detection and risk assessment to aiding rapid response by providing real-time imaging guidance, radiology underpins effective disaster management. Furthermore, radiological technologies aid recovery through damage assessment and surveillance. This paper delves into radiology's contributions to disaster medicine, emphasizing collaboration, training, and technology advancements as drivers of enhanced preparedness and resilience.
